The Goal and the Losing Condition

Success and failure deserve separate descriptions.

A useful distinction

A score counter does not necessarily define victory. Some games end after a fixed number of moves; others continue until the player exits. Understanding the end conditions helps explain what decisions matter during play.

Put it into practice

For a small fictional puzzle, write a success condition and a failure condition as two separate statements. Test whether either can occur and whether both might accidentally be true together. A clear design distinguishes the intended result from a decorative congratulations message.
