A useful distinction
A game may use a simplified shape to decide whether objects touch. That shape need not match every detail of the artwork. Unexpected contact can therefore be a question about the chosen collision representation rather than the picture alone.
Put it into practice
Draw the collision boundaries beside the visible shapes in a small prototype. Test near an edge and corner, recording the expected result. Consult your engine’s collision documentation before changing it, and distinguish a deliberate simplified boundary from an accidental mismatch.
